Summer Reading Program
Drake Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is supported by Friends 100% and is a favorite among area school children.
Registration kicks-off in early June and out-of-town children are welcome to attend. All programs are free.
The Summer Reading Program is designed to keep children reading all summer long to help stay current on their reading levels. Along with promoting literacy and community, the two-month summer program is a great way to pass the hot summer months. Some recent events included: field trips, special programs, prizes and incentives.
Participants love the Big Finale Party each year. Past parties have included an outdoor movie night, swim party, bowling event and yard carnival.
During the summer of 2015, Centerville area participants read 2,330 hours and a record number of kids completed the program requirements.
